The Road by Cormac McCarthy"“The Road” is a post-apocalyptic story of a man and his young son trying to survive in a world reduced to ashes by an unknown catastrophe. The shear will to survive drives the exhausting journey through the barren wasteland that was once America, searching for anything that could aid their survival in a world devoid of life. The cliché "I could not put it down" cannot even begin to describe how great of a read this book is. McCarthy is an extraordinary author that envelopes the reader in his stories. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I couldn’t put it down, I didn’t want it to end."
Looking for Alaska by John Greene"Looking For Alaska is a poetically written novel about a very unpopular boy Miles, in high school who goes from his boring life in Florida to find his "Great Perhaps" at a boarding school in Alabama. While there he meets a self-destructive girl named Alaska, who he begins to fall in love with, and gains a roommate they call Colonel with a drinking problem. After a few pranks and a drunken game of truth or dare Alaska gets a phone call and leaves for an unknown reason. I would recommend this book to anyone and I have to many people. If you like a good tear jerker with some laughs along the way this book is for you. I couldn’t put it down, I didn’t want it to end."Reviewed by, Jesse, 12th grade
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls"It's about a woman’s life and how she grew up as a child. Her family is always on the run and is constantly having problems. The way she copes with everything that comes at her is remarkable and hard to believe. But if you grew up the way she did... It's believable. I would recommend it. It's a little sad but you won't want to put it down. :) Has a Great ending! It was pretty good, I would recommend it."Reviewed by, Stephanie, 12th grade
Thr3e by Ted Dekker"This book is about a man who gets a phone call and the voice tells him to tell everyone his sins or he will explode in three seconds. Then voice tells him there is a bomb is in his car. He hangs up the phone, jumps out really quick, and runs away and he hears a big explosion. He keeps getting more calls but the voice has stopped telling him where the problem will be. This is a good book, it keeps you reading even if you don't like to read. It may be a little hard, but it is a good book. It was pretty good, I would recommend it."Reviewed by, Michael, 10th grade
